deleted items not going to recyle bin 1

i have a user here who when they delete items they do not go to the recyle bin but just get completely deleted. she says that the first time it happened she got an error of some kind (im guessing a corrupt recycle bin error) but since then no error.

any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Just a thought,
Right click the Recycle Bin > Properties > Do not move files to the Recycle bin

Hey! It's so easy! You just need choose what you want to delete and push shift+delete. It's really works.

If the recycle bin gets corrupted:

- set folder options in explorer to display hidden files
- go to the root directory of the drive (C: probably) and find the hidden folder called recycler.
- right click on it and click on properties
- turn off the check mark for read only. When it asks if you want that to apply to all subfolders and files say yes
- click on apply
- right click on recycler and left click on delete - delete it.
- go to a folder and delete some junk file, and send it to the recycle bin. The recycler folder will be re-created.
- don't forget to change folder options back to not display hidden files

This would be normal if the files were on a Network Share of any kind.

The Recycled folder itself can become damaged. Files are moved to the folder and the Recycle Bin on the desktop appears full but you cannot view the contents and the Empty The Recycle Bin command may be unavailable, or simply doesn't work.


Deleting the Recycle Bin and then restarting Windows, which will re-create and restore its functionality. Restart the computer and delete the recycle bin by pressing F8 at the WinXP Startup menu, and then select Safe Mode with Command Prompt. Navigate to the correct drive prompt (ie C or D). Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each line:

attrib -s -h recycler
del recycler

Any error should be recorded in the Event Viewer as an "Application Popup" in the System Folder. You can use the View/ Filter and retrieve the message.

You always have System Restore to try.
