Outlook 2000 to Exchange 5.5 SP4.
Deleted items take 30 secs to delete (per item). moving stuffin and out of the folder takes forever. Problem has just recently occured. Have moved everything out of the folder, but you don't seem to be able to rename, replace or delete the folder. I have tried accessing (using mailbox not personal folders) from different machines - problem appears to be server based.
Anyone got any ideas?

You definitely can not delete or rename the deleted items folder like you can the other folders in your mailbox.

You may want to try running the /resetfolders switch to open Outlook from the RUN command and see if that makes a difference (somehow I don't think it will correct the issue but it's worth a shot). I don't think I have seen this one before. Possibly your mailbox may need to be rebuilt as a last resort.

You can maybe avoide the issue if you cannot solve it.
A couple of things to do is, when deleting an item, hold Shift and then press delete and it will ask you do you want to permanently delete the item(s). This will delete them permanently without going to the recycle bin.
You can also go into Tools->Options, go to the Other Tab, and tick the button for 'Empty the Deleted Items Folder upon exiting', which will do as it says with you having to to manually delete them...
You can also click on the Advanced Options button in the Other tab, and untick the option for 'Warn before permanently delteing Items'. Which will get rid of the message and make it easier....
But you always want to make sure that you want to delete the items!!!! Jay~

My new Tae Kwon Do website is up and running!!
