i was working on the c$ admin share in something on our company intranet. I must have bumped the keyboard incorrectly, and all of a sudden, i noticed the screen moving files. I hit cancel, but too late, all of my intranet files seem to have either been deleted or moved to a place where they cannot be found. A search for the folder name comes up nil

Windows did not even prompt me for a response. I'm sure there is nothing I can do at this point, but I wanted to throw it out there anyway, just in case there is some secret I am missing

Sounds somewhat suspicious. You bumped your keyboard and your files started moving....
Map a drive to the intranet server C: drive and go to the command line and type DIR <name of folder or file> /S /AH
Hope this helps.

yeah, i must have fat fingered my keyboard, or something, and it must have been a key combo that caused the files to start moving, or delete. that's all i know. I couldn't even tell you what I hit. I'm sure it's not a virus or anything. It was defititely me.

that command doesn't seem to work, as the entire directory i'm looking for is missing.

Did you try searching for a particular file that may have been in that directory?

yes, the files are definitely gone -

anybody have any experience with deleted file retrieval software for server 2k3?
