a girl at work has just come to me looking for an email she deleted and she has since emptied the deleted email folder

we use exchange but the backups dont go that far back

is there any freeware that can recover this mail?

if there is something thats not free let me know and ill stick it to her

Unfortunately you're not incredibly unlikely to have any luck without backups. The only thing I can suggest is asking the original recipient (or sender) if they still have it, then staggering your backups so that in future you have the ability to access older files.

figured that, thanks anyway, she wont do it again thats for sure :)

Aye, it's not a nice lesson to learn! :)

Sorry I couldn't offer anything more helpful.

Hi,

There is a feature in Outlook when using Exchange, that is 'Recover Deleted Items'.
Depending on a parameter set in Exchange she might be able to get it back. There is a default of a few days I believe, so you might get lucky.

Here's how to get to it in Outlook (NOT Outlook Express, that I'm aware of).

You click on the "Deleted Items"
In the menu click on "Tools".
Under that you click 'Recover Deleted Items'. then a list of deleted emails appears in window.

Good luck
