Hi

for whatever reason I have just taken over a website with a mysql database.

when I logon using phpmyadmin the database is not there. Seems to have been deleted

This no doubt has been asked trillions of times before but can it be undeleted?

thanks

Ian

You would have to go back to a system back up or a mysql dump. Once it's gone it's gone.
sorry

But just as I hit the send key, and I've never tried this, depending on the OS you yusing you mighr be able to undelte the underlying files. I wouldn't put much hope behind this one though

Hi

thanks, I've told the client who seems to suspect foul play by a previous employee, so I am at least in the clear

cheers

Ian

Did you configure phpmyadmin yourself or was it part of your "legacy"? It may be that the user you log in with just has no rights to the database, but that it still exists. This would be an ideal foul play trick: only the trickster knows the right login and can make anyone else look foolish.
By the way, if you don't have the (MySQL) root's password, you can restart the server with a skip-authentication option. This will allow you to set a new password, so you can restart the server again normally.

Good luck!
