I wonder if anyone has ever had this problem and knows how to fix it.
I downloaded the new IE5.5 and thought I might make a fresh start with all my favourites. I emptied the cookies and history and automcomplete stuff and then made some new favourites available offline. The trouble is I can no longer view any pages until I have gone online.
For a while I was able to view pages offline after having clicked File / Work offline / and then clicked Refresh but even this isn't working now and I have to be connected before I can view any pages offline.
Please if anyone can help...reply to this message.
                 Thankyou....

What probably happened is you opted to delete all offline content as well as just the temp files. when you clear temp files there should be a box that says "Delete all offline content" and if that box somehow got clicked then all your pages that were available offline would have been deleted. Thats the only thing I can think of.
Ladin
matchu_14@hotmail.com

Tech support for 1 1/2 years, build computers, messed with C, HTML, Working on Flash, Role-Playing Game Junkie (Diablo2)

Ladin..thanks for the attempt, but I still have the problem. If I had inadvertantly ticked the box for 'Delete All Off-line Content' it still doesn't explain why I can't view the pages I've made available off-line since then. Today I tried a drastic measure, having already tried a fresh download of IE5.5, I re-installed Win98...and found that never made any difference.
Is it possible do you think, that I may have deleted a 'desktop.ini' file. I was reading something today about emptying the 'Temporary Internet Files' folder. It said that all the files in here could be deleted except the 'desktop.ini' files. Well, I've looked in that folder and I can't see any files called 'desktop.ini'. So, if I have deleted them, is there some way of getting them back?
Thanks for trying. John

Have you tried re-syncronizing the pages that you have set to view off-line. I have not done that in a while but I do remember having to schedule them to be updated.

It is worth a shot.
