I was trying to organize our active directory. We have some PC's that arent on the network anymore so I tested with my computer if I deleted the computer I wanted to see if it would automatically come back to active directory. It didnt and now it wont let me log into the domain. It says it cant find the account. I finally got the computer put back in AD, but it still wont let me log in. Any ideas??

That doesnt seem to be working. It says that it cant find the account. Can I delete my account and remake it without losing exchange stuff??

no once you account it is deleted the object sid is removed and mark for deletion on the next scheduled cleaning.

Then once you create a new account (a new object) is created with another SID.

Objects that are deleted can be recover if the "cleaning" has not erased it.

well to this case once you see you computer back on the AD remove it.

then remove your computer from the domain, into a workgroup ex. test.

rejoin the domain

The best answer to these problems is a product call RestoreAdmin. It is made by a company called NetPro. I use it and highly suggest it. It is small and EASY to use. It allows you to backup everything in AD and fully rollback or recover any object in AD in seconds. This includes ALL attributes, like group membership and SID.

I know it is not ok to spell out an email address here, but it is ok to do something like foo at hotmail dot com?

I have an excellent contact there that can hook you up.
