guys this may be a strange question but i will go on anyway....

We have servers running server 2000, as you all know if you delete a file on the server it goes into the recycle bin.

Problem is if a user connect to the server through say a mapped drive deletes a file it is gone. Our backups are scheduled to run every evening at 10pm. So if someone deletes a file they created at the start of the day at 5pm its gone.

Does anyone know of a utility that would put all deleted files from mapped drives into the recycle bin???

Thanks
Nick

Affriad i dont ... i would just change my security policy to stop users from deleting files ... do they really need to be able to delete?

Also ... i remember sitting on technet forum at one point about a year ago ... i think server 2003 supports files retrieval and things like that... if this is a serious issue it might be time to look at migrating.

Executive Software Undelete would do that I think

They may not be gone. Log on to the server that the file was deleted from. Browse to the drive, open folder options and make sure that teh "hide protected operating systmes files" is unchecked. if it is you should see a "recycler" folder. Open it and inside will be recycle bins. look in there for the files.
