Hello:
An user id on HP-UX is 9 characters long. Command userdel can not get rid of it, error msg is Login 'Longnamex' does not exist. Try from SAM, got the same result.
OS:B.11.11 U.
Thanks in advance.
Warren

Have you tried just using userdel for the first 8 chars? I know vanilla Solaris only recognises the first 8, regardless of the length.

All I ask of you
Is make my wildest dreams come true

how did you set up this user?
Is your system a "trusted system"
(structure under root:/tcb/files/auth
# ls
A G M S Y e k q v
B H N T Z f l r w
C I O U a g m s x
D J P V b h n system y
E K Q W c i o t z
F L R X d j p u
root:/tcb/files/auth
# )

if it is not, just drop the two lines by editing the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow with an editor eg. vi

Best Regards, Franz
