I have a DC on a Win SBS 2k3.
I have all my shares situated
the way I like them and have
taken care of groups and users.

All my shares will be needing
modify permissions but upon
doing so I end up giving my
users DELETE permissions which
is exactly what I DO NOT want to
happen.

In windows 2k3 server
how can i give users the modify
right but take away the delete
rights???

If it has something
to do with GPO could you please
go into detail about how to
situate my issue.... Thanks Guys

The best way to set up Windows permissions is to allow Everyone- Full Control on the SHARE.

For the NTFS permissions on the folders you are sharing (just the root folder needs to be set because of inheritance) -- Properties - Security - Add --> add your users here. Select the modify checkbox to give them modify permissions.. Click the advanced tab and highlight each group that you added, click Edit, and remove the Delete checkbox.

That appears to take away the modify rights
when i do that. I've chased my tail around
this for a while now. Any more suggestions
are surely welcome... Thank You

It doesn't. Even though the box is unchecked in the main display, you can still modify the files..try it........
