Hi All,

I have what may sound like a stupid question, so please be nice...

I was told it was possible to delete a users email using windows explorer...
so I logged onto our exchange server as the domain admin opened windows explorer, went to the M drive and found the users folder that I wanted to delete an email from.
when I tried to open the users folder I got an access denied message, so I looked at the ntfs permissions...
I found that the (domain admin user and group) had implicit DENY access, so I tried to change the permission from deny to allow, but it wouldn't work... I just kept getting unable to modiy permissions.
I looked at the permissions of the mailbox and the domain admins there are also explicit deny.

Can anyone explain this, or point me in a direcion... I tried microsofts web, but I just haven't found the right links, and I am sure they are there...

Thanks in advance

You cannot apply permissions to the M Drive. It does not work in the same way as a logical drive

One basic rule you may want to know when administrating Exchange 2000. Do NOT touch the M drive. Do not allow others to touch the M drive. This includes any Anti-virus software.
If you want to delete an email from another user, give yourself access to their mailbox via Active Directory Users and Computers and open their mailbox in your Outlook. Delete the email and remove your access.
