I know there is a way to delete unused DN's through the phone programming way. There has to be a way to delete a DN through the BCM Element Manager, but I have been unable to figure it out. I am getting the error No ports available, when trying to register a new IP phone. I see the answers to increase the resource from 2/5 to 3/5, but all I need is to register this one phone. If I delete one old unused IP seat it should work right?

Thanks,

Moth

Did you deregister the old phone? THis will free up the license. Usually when you see that error it means you are out of licenses. The DN would not cause this, it would give you an invalid DN error if you tried to use a DN that was in service for example.

The unused DNs do not burn licenses, just the end devices. If you have enough free IP licenses are are still getting this message you may have an issue. Hope this helps.

I guess you've got a 200/400/1000 system. What software version are you running?

If you're getting the no ports available but have more licenses than you have registered IP sets, then you need to look at resources but as atascoman says, if you have 20 licenses and 20 sets registered, then you need to either add more licenses or deregister ip sets that are no longer in use (or you could just renumber them too) but I will assume that you need to add more.

The big issue is if you have say 70 licenses and around 50 sets registered. That error means you need to change from the default 2/6 to 3/5 split to give you more signalling channels. If you're going to do that, make sure you read the manual first. You will lose your bus 7.

Unused DNs are not your problem. It's either licenses, registered ip sets or resources.

Good Luck.
