Hello all,

I am running an NT server and someone has hacked into my ftp directory and setup their own folders. I can block the user from coming again, but he or she has created files that I cannot delete.

The first file is just a space. I can't rename it, delete it or remove it. I have tried from Explorer, DOS and a shell. The other file is called COM1.

If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Brandon

do you get any error messages?

If its an NTFS partition you might want to take ownership of the folder then try deleting again

Unshare the folders first then delete the contents - don't forget to check for hidden shares created in the registry.

HI!

The "space" file is probably named not with a real space but another unvisible character from the ASCII table.
Maybe REN can help:
REN ?. X.
then
DEL X

Try also using REN to get rid of the COM1 file, I'm not sure if it will work.
I had this problems once but don't remember the solution.
Maybe using some old NC for dos or clone like Dos Navigator can help (running under NT). It helped me once.
Also try NC clones for Windows like WINCMD.

Bye
