I have a spreadsheet and in one of the colloums every cell has a reference number in the format of 'F8890168/2075'

In every cell i would like to delete the slash, and every character which follows. The reference number before the slash is not always alpha numeric is is sometimes just numbers, though after the slash is always numerical.

I am trying to come up with some sort of macro etc to do this but no joy, any help appreciated.

Thanks

John

Find & Replace, find: "/*", replace: "". In excel (no vba) without quotes.

Wow, so simple! I have done find and replace a lot but didn't know you could use wild cards like that, that worked a treat!

Thanks!

Hi,

You could ALSO use the Data/Text to Columns... feature.

Delimit by "/" and do not import column for the last column.
