Hi

How do i delete all discovered systems from the admin console ? My boss forced me to discover and install every machine on our wan from the central server. At the time we also had a child server (with it's own sql database). My problem is that all the machines that i discoveredhave the site code of the central server. I am now going to roll out sms servers on each of our sites so i need to migrate the systems to their correct site. I was thinking about somehow deleting all of the info and starting again with the discovery of the existing clients and re-installing them.

If i do this will my clients have their own site code from their own site or will they still have the site code from the central site ?

How should i administer this ? From a consol on my laptop controlling both sites or from each site individually ? I ask this because the information on one sites collections is not the same as the other. One site, the central site shows that all discovered machines have it's sitecode. The child site shows that the machines in it's doscovered collections have the site code of it's site... This dowsn't look very well !!! LOL

Please help

Cheers
Craig

1) If you remove the subnets (for the remote site) from the central site server, the clients will automatically know that they do not belong to the central site. A client will uninstall itself if it no longer belongs to an SMS site. (SMS 2.0)

1a) Delete the systems from you central site server

a- Right click the Collection of clients that you want to delete
b- Choose Delete Special

2) You then can add your new site and define the boundaries in this site with the (remote site) boundary subnets.

3) re-install the clients...they will be assigned to the remote SMS site.

It removes them from the database....when they are re-dicovered they will be assigned to what ever boundary they are in at that point.

BUT there is no reason to do all that. Make sure you remove the boundary from the central sites 1st so you dont have overlapping boundaries.

if you add new sites, and fix/change the boundaries, they will fix themselves next heartbeat discovery to the new boundary they are in.
