I have one Windows 2000 Pro machine that for some reason has downloaded KB837009 and the user is being alerted to install this Windows Update.

If the Windows Update prompt is acted upon, the installation says it's successful and then after a few minutes the globe reminder will come back saying this update needs to be installed.

I found where this patch is for Windows XP, so I do not know why it was downloaded.

Can this downloaded update be removed or ignored so Windows Update does not see that it needs to be installed?

Thanks,

Dave

There's an option to not install the update (ie, choose custom, not express install, then uncheck the box by that patch. You should then be prompted if you want to be notified of the update again - say no).
