delays sending emails with document attachments.

My computer takes about 4 minutes to send an email with a pdf attachment or excel. When I send a pic attachment it goes right away. I believe the cause to be mcafee antivirus. I'm using version 10.0.27. Does anyone know what is causing this, or if there's an issue with v. 10.0.27 of mcafee?
