Hi all,

I am sure someone is experiencing the same problem out there. This is the 2nd Exchange 2003 server that I work with in a different company. Everything seems to work fine BUT occassionally, user reports that email delay occured, regardless it's internal or external email. Users report that they'd receive email that were sent to them hours or even days ago for no reason. They have been receiving email fine. It appears like those email got skipped and delivered in a much later time. There is no pattern on this (no common length of delay or user specific.) Anybody know what could be wrong or how to track down this problem?

What other software is running on the Exchangew 2003 box? Anti-virus or anti-spam???

Enable Message Tracking, and have a look to see what is happening to the email in the Message Tracking Centre.

Does your Norton have an anti-spam feature enabled? Also, have you setup file exclusions for all the exchange \bin and \mdbdata and \mailroot locations?

have you checked the task manager to see what is running when the e-mails are slow, this happened to me and I found a prosses that was running call inetinfo.exe. which owlly ran few about ten minutes. then all was normal.
