Greetings-

I have acustomer with a CICS and they ring to VM after 4 rings. They would like to change and delay ring to another group of users (maybe 3 or 4). I have looked through previous posts and see that you can DRT to a hunt group. What if their software doesn't support hunt groups? Do you DRT to a phantom DN and then give Answer DN's to the covering extensions? Does the original phone continue to ring or does it not ring.

Thanks for any advice

You could set the lines up to ring on the group of phones you want to use, or you could maybe take a conference phone or a phone that is not being used and do the Answer Dn -

How does that accomplish the delay ring that they so fervently desire? Is the spare phone set up as the DRT destination?

Go ahead and use DRT to Prime and set the prime set to be one of the three or four phones in the secondary group. Then give the other phones an Answer DN button of that first phone.
Keep in mind that EVERY time the first phone rings the others will ring also.

Or you could put a ringer on an ATA, then have the prime set be the DN of the ATA, then give the group of phones Answer DN buttons of the ATA. This way they get the delay, the ringer rings as well as the secondary phones. MRoberts

Thanks for the input. Both are good choices, however each does have a flaw. Obviously, the straight up Answer DN setting with all phones ringing all the time would not work. The ringer off an ATA port is also tough. This is a highly professional office and not conducive to a loud ringer. So, I ask, what about a "phantom DN", something either outside their current extension range or an unoccupied station port. I have used this setup to transfer out of vmail to a bunch of extensions (SALES). I just don't know if the Answer DN feature will function without a valid working set.

I hesitate on the Phantom DNs. I have seen them work and I have seen them fail miserably! You can try it. I do know that you cannot put an answer DN button on a device that doesn't have buttons. So you couldn't put an answer DN button of the recept on the ATA of the ringer.

The last option is to wired up a jack with a spare phone in the phone room using one of their last unused extensions. Have that be your prime set and give the other phones the Answer DN button of that set. No one will hear it ring. MRoberts
