Hi guys,

I recently installed an IPoffice 9.0.4 and put in 5 sip trunks for a customer .
He is on Bell fibe internet 50/50 with fiber directly to him.
He complains of when calls come in it rings and when he answers it takes up to 5 to 10 seconds to connect him and the caller.

I monitored the trunks and it seems to show the call answered in the SSA Monitor but it still takes 5-10 seconds of silence before the audio opens up .
I thought it was the SIP carier since i was trying him on a new provider so i switched him to Primus/Unlimitel which i have been using for 3 years for myself and works great for me ( by the way I'm on 9.0.4 as well) and the issue is still there with the other carrier..
Any ideas?

Thanks

Capture the data with wireshark and you'll see when the RTP stream starts and you can also play it back, that will prove where the fault lies, doubt it's the system more likely a network/router thing :)

We've seen the same thing with the same carrier here in Ontario. We've also seen the same thing on the Mitel platform, not just IPO.

Have you tried reducing the number of codecs available? Is it possible to select just one codec and see if that corrects the problem?

I can't recall the solution that worked for us, although I think it involved reducing the number of codecs the IPO says it has available (I believe we went down to just one for a while). I will speak to the team tomorrow and see if we can recall what we did to correct this problem.

I would not blame Bell Fibe. The Fibe has been a pretty rock-solid service at a very decent (escalating every four months) price point.

Hi guys,

I narrowed the codec selection down to one and it seems to have improved .

About wire shark i'm curious to know how i do a capture.. i downloaded the program but do i set it to monitor the ip address of the ipo or do i set up port monitoring?
Not sure how to do a capture, never used it before.

Thanks
