Delay in Email with large attachments

I am currently running MS Exchange 5.5. Some of my clients are having problems sending an email with a large excel file. There seems to be a delay sending email to internet addresses. It would sometimes take over 2 days. Is there anything I can do?

I work for a lage company who used to have a similar problem with Lotus Notes Emails and large attatchments. the reasoning behind it was when the server had been initially set up, someone had put a threshold on it so any large emails were sent last or at the least busiest period. We initially got over this by sending emails at a high priority until we could reconfigure the server.

How can you set high priority automatically?
