Hi,
I have a situation where we have a CS1000S (Rls 4.5), soon to be upgraded. Currently users are experiencing some strange problems. When they try to dial numbers, there is a delay in entering the numbers on the phone. Also, there is a delay when the users are tying to answer calls as well. Some of our guys are checking to see if its a network issue. The problem is not isolated to a particular building as such.

Any ideas?

Terry

IP or TDM?

Oh sorry about that. The problem exists with IP phones throughout that site. There are few analog phones, but I'm trying to confirm if the analog phones are getting the same problem.

My guess would be network issue with either QOS not being implemented or a VLAN issue. Definitely sounds like a bandwidth problem. You could reboot the signal server and see if that helps, after hours of course.

ok, so IF it's only the IP phones, then check if there is dropped packets (or delay) PINGing the NODE IP address.
(and from the Sig server to the call server)

If there is, do a sniffer trace when pinging that IP:

possible Network issues:

Duplicate IP of the default gateway (on either subnet) IP address (or even node IP)
Firewall (some change?)
Port Security on LAN switch
Virus on network??

Ok so I just realised that most of the phones (>400) at the site were registered to the voice gateway media cards and not the signalling servers. Both signalling servers were reset. Preliminary checks show that the problem may have disappeared. I'll continue to monitor.
