Hello, first post here. I am working on a Magix R4 with Merlin Messaging R4. I have worked on Magix before over the years, but never set up Calling Groups before.

I have two Calling Groups that queue incoming calls, one for the office (772), one for the plant (771). Both are configured for prompt overflow to phantom mailboxes configured "with telephone." Seems to work although I don't yet fully understand the queueing system.

I'd like the same thing for both queues:

-Before queueing the call and playing MOH, play a delay announcement that tells them "please wait while..."

-Every minute or so, play a delay announcement that tells them "sorry, press # if you'd like to leave a VM"

I have created two such delay announcements in the Merlin Messaging; the "please wait..." is 1, the "sorry..." is 2.

Embarassed to say I can't figure out how to assign these to the calling groups. I see in WinSPM where I assign an extension for the delay and secondary delay. I assume I want to set the delay to "1" above and the secondary delay to "2" above and the delay interval to 60 seconds and the delay announce repeat to Yes.

So if that is all right, how do I associate the delay announcements with extensions?

Thanks in advance for any help. (I am a piker yet so I am using WinSPM 9.0, but I'm getting there with standard SPM. BTW, I love the sense of humor on the guy that named the "Quick Access" part.)

where are you getting 1 or 2 from ? you can't use selector codes
on your VM port license card how many ports ?
are you using any for Delay announcements ?
what are the extension number for Those ports ?

Afraid I just chose them randomly, didn't / don't know the significance of the numbers.

"on your VM port license card how many ports ?"

Four port license.

"are you using any for Delay announcements ?"

Didn't know that you had to specifically designate them for delay announcements. (Much less know how.)

"what are the extension number for Those ports ?"

I am away from the system at the moment and I can't remember, but will post this when I am back in business tomorrow.

What devices are you then plan on using for the Delay annc ?

I apologize if I am missing something and/or being dense. I thought that the Merlin Messaging was the device that would play the announcement; I was unaware if there is another device involved.

If this is clearly spelled out in the documentation, please feel free to tell me to RTFM. I did not find it but it wouldn't be the first time I missed something right under my nose.

If you don't have the Feature Reference document, you can download all that stuff from support.avaya.com for free.

Happy reading!

Allow me to clarify as much as I can (but not all of it just yet). This is an extremely complex bit of programming (Standard SPM) and more than what needs to be published here in a step by step guide.

For sure, you should have all the equipment you need in the Merlin Messaging unit (providing you have enough total ports).

In a nutshell, here's the set-up:

You have to set up a separate Integrated Voice Mail Calling Group that will have your announcement ports. That is, you must first remove them from the "REGULAR" voice mail calling group (if they haven't been already).

The feature reference will state that you can have MULTIPLE Primary Announcements, and only 1 Secondary Announcement.

You have already discovered the SPM programming that allows you to assign 1 & 2.

Now that you know this much, you should be able to bootstrap this info with the Feature Reference and move to the next few steps to make this work.

Ah ha, I see, thank you. Split ports out of the 770 group, and those handle just delay announcements.

Since this system is small and deals with fairly low call volumes, and the announcements were only a few seconds - I may try my luck with just one port for delay announcements. That ought to keep everyone happy.

Thanks again for the nutshell.
