I have just replaced a hdisk from my SSA. I have removed this disk, which was part of RAID 5 SSA. Now the status of the RAID group is "degraded". How can I get it back to normal?

How do I introduce the disk back to the group?

TIA!

The solution is:
o smitty ssaraid and select the following;
§ Change Member Disk in an SSA RAID Array
§ Remove a disk from an array SSA Array
§ Select the array in question and remove pdisk# (for example hdisk20)
· The following steps apply to both rejected and non-rejected disks
· Have IBM Engineer identify and replace faulty disk with new disk
(Atten: He should set it in Service mode )
· rmdev -l –d phisk#
· cfgmgr -vl ssar (This will configure the new disk and will assign
hdisk#, note new hdisk and pdisk number)
· Enter smitty ssaraid and select the following
o Change / Show use of an ssa physical disk
o Change the new pdisk's (hdisk#) "current use" to Array Candidate
· Enter smitty ssaraid
o Change Member Disk in an SSA RAID Array
o Add a disk to an SSA RAID Array
o Add the new pdisk definition to the Array
This definiation should now be in a "degrade" state. After adding the
new disk the array will go into a "Rebuilding" state, and untimately a
"Good" state after the rebuild operation is complete. This progress
can be monitored via:
· Enter smitty ssaraid
o List status of all Defined SSA RAID Arrays
o These numbers will get smaller as the array rebuilds and once they
all go to zero, the array should be in a "Good State"
