Hi folks,

I understand that under Windows the DefragFs sometimes's a critical thing to do (I even noticed loss of data, corrupt files, etc. after doing Defrag under Windows).

But how is it under AIX ?
Is it "dangerous" ? Are there any risks ?
What are the benefits ? Is the read/write performance increasing enough to make it worth running this command ?

Regards
Thomas

I personally would not trust it. If I had enough space - I would create a backup copy of the file system - blow away the old - recreate it - and then restore from the backup. That will make everything contiguouse again.
