Hi Gurus,

We get error report today, it is complaining about FILE SYSTEM FREE SPACE FRAGMENTED on /var FS.
I never use defragfs before, hope some body can give me some advice. Like how serious it will be, how it affect system (running the defragfs). Should I shutdown our application?

Thanks for any recommendation.

Denny

You can run defragfs on a live filesystem and tt won't harm any running applications. I have done it many times. There is a flag, but I don't have an AIX server in front of me now, that will show you stats before running commiting changes. Otherwise, just run 'defragfs /var'.

thanks for reply, the flag used to get the report is "-r".
