Is there not a defrag utility that comes standard with NT4 (either Workstation or Server)? I find it for Win9x and W2K, but not for NT4. If it's something which must be added as a service, then I've not discovered how.

Thank you,

Mark

You can find defrag by doing a properties of the drive in question and going to tools. (I think thasts it in NT4, Been a while since we upgraded to 2000) If not let me know.

I don't beleive that NT4 server or Wk supports defrag. There may be a third party tool, but I don't know of one.

We use Diskeeper ( Diskeeper Lite is also available - and free - but naturally doesn't include all the functionality of the full blown version (eg no scheduling etc).

I found the defragmenter with Norton Utilities for NT. Windows NT doesn't come with a defragmenter, or scandisk. Ater adding NU it comes available in the explorer properties tab S. van Els

Thanks for the updates guys. I have been using 2000 so long I forgot some of the basics of NT4 :)

All,

Thanks for the replies. I downloaded Diskeeper Lite. It does the job and is free. Good enough!
