Does anyone know of a why the time drifts? My time usually drifts about 30 to 35 seconds fast a month. Is there any patch or fix that can be installed?

No patch. Just variations in the ocillator chips like any other PC. If you upgrade to one of the s8xxx servers, you can do a network time synch but that would be a little expensive to save typing "set time".

you can use "ASA" and sync the time of the switch to your PC's time that ASA is running on. If you have your PC synced to an NTP source, and sync your G3R's time to your PC once or twice a day, it will stay fairly accurate. The "Time Synchronization" in in ASA on the "Fault & Performance" tab.

Definity G3R PBX are no longer supported by Avaya, so no updates. Your dealing with a system with a 486 processor and less memory than my cell phone! This is dark ages equipment! U are courting disaster continuing using this system. They are very reliable but when they go down how long do U think is it going to take to replace it with a current system? Parts are sometimes available from other vendors, and that is fine if your business doesn't happen to be a hospital or call center and can stand a couple days or weeks out of service.

I thought the G3R used a RISC chip, hence the "R" suffix.

The G3Si for instance used an intel 386 chip hence the "i" suffix.

I've only just got rid of my G3R and went to CM4. This was only because of support issues and nothing to do with reliability. The old platform was more stable than anything made today!!!

They were (are) great switches. Stock up on parts now while they are available and cheap. The secondary market should be flooded with them.
