Definity g3I power shutdown?

Looking for best approach. My site will have a power shutdown for 12 hours. My question regarding the Definity PBX is to let it shutdown on its own when the power goes out and the ups dies down. Or to manually shut it down prior to the power going off. With manual shut down is it best to unplug each shelf or unplug the main power only?

I would unplug everything to avoid any surge issues when the power is turned back on.
