I administer a Definity G3V6 on an MSC ship. Beginning several weeks ago, a single 8102 analog station rings once, at 01:01 every day. This station is 7101, which is the first station in the dial plan on port 01A0101. I have enabled intra-switch CDR, and have attempted to answer the single ring in order to capture the event as a completed call, but without success. Basic Hospitality is enabled, as well as Automatic Wakeup with Tones, but no wakeups are set. Station 7101 is part of a call pickup group and a call coverage group, but this single ring occurs only on 7101. I am stumped on this and would appreciate any ideas on what to look for.

It could be part of maintenance that the system is doing. You can try turning off tests on that extension (on page 1) and see if that takes care of it. You can also possibly verify that it's just system maintenance by looking at 'display sys main' command.

Additionally, you could start a trace on the extension just before 1:01 to possibly capture more information.

Test was previously set to n (disabled) on 7101 and on all other extensions in the coverage answer group of which it is a member, so I don't think that is the issue.
Display sys main indicates that testing starts at 0100 and ends at 0600, so it would appear that the beginning of the testing window correlates with the single ring issue.
I'll continue exploring what test event could cause this.

OK, found it:
Trunk group 20 / Port 01V1901 on a TN760 circuit pack is the destination for 211 local emergency calls. Station 7101 is wired through an emergency transfer switch which is connected to Port 01B1901. TG 20 had Maintenance Tests set to Y. A cordless phone had been plugged in to a Y adapter along with the 8102 set on station 7101.

SO, every day 1 minute after the maintenance window opened at 01:00, Port 01B1901 was tested, which caused a short (test) ring. The short ring triggered the emergency transfer switch to ring the designated emergency station, 7101. The short ring was not heard on the 8102 analog set, but DOES ring on the cordless phone plugged into the Y adapter.

Set TG 20 to Maintenance Tests N, and the problem is solved.
