Hi,
Please can somebody help me out. I have been asked how to configure a ds1 card for use with CAS. What would the settings be? I am unfortunately not able to access the switch to 'play'.
Cheers,
Ru.

I'm using CAS for my NICE Call Recorder, should be similar setup.

Add DS1 as follows:
DS1 CIRCUIT PACK

Location: 02B05 Name: NICE V/RECORDER
Bit Rate: 2.048 Line Coding: hdb3

Signaling Mode: CAS

Interconnect: pbx Country Protocol: 1

Interface Companding: alaw CRC? n
Idle Code: 11111111

Slip Detection? n Near-end CSU Type: other

I've got the DS1 extensions setup as OPS (off-premise Stations for call recording) and not via a trunk group. which way do you need to set it up? i.e. what is it to be used for?

Cheers,
NJ

Hi NJ,

Thank you very much for your response. I am sure that it will be of great help. At the moment I am not getting a great response form the business regarding what they are using the circuit for. I asked the question some days ago so hopefully I will get a response soon. I have not come across OPS before either. If need be I may well be back with further questions on them. Again, thank you vvery much, Ru.

Thank you for being so helpful Cyberjamos, I finally have more info. I beleive that CAS is required due to the age of one of the DS1 cards. The customer does not wish to purchace a new card. The circuit is to be used purely as an intersite link for voice. One end is London and the other Buenos Aries. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers

What type DS1 card do you have (i.e. TN464, TN767, etc.) and what version is it? Sense this is two distant endpoints will this trunk be ISDN and if so will it be setup as E1 or T1 trunk?

To be honest, this is a little out of my range, never had to do this sort of thing before. However since the signalling is all done on a per channel basis, I can assume that as long as both ends are configured the same, I can't see there being any major problems. What is the link? Is it POTS or a direct link between the 2 switches?

Assuming it is a point-to-point 30/15 channel link, as a starting point I'd set up the London card as described above. Setup the corresponding far-end and see what happens, any errors problems approach them as they occur.

Cheers,
NJ
