All,

I am a newly appointed Definity administrator for my office(the local MIS person was fired). I have no manuals or informaion of any kind. I have been able to figure out how to move extensions and change names, but that is about it. Currently some of our people are complaining that they cannot connect to the 832 echange in the 409 area code. It is a valid phone number (can call on a cell phone). Can the Definity be "blocking" that particular exchange (i.e 409-832-xxxx) ???

Any help is appreciated

do a 'cha ars ana 409' Write down the settings for each line. If no setting is there, do 'cha ars ana XXX' where XXX is a known working area code. Page down and enter the info as for exactly how the working area code is inputted. Should look something like this.

ARS DIGIT ANALYSIS TABLE
Location: all Percent Full: 53

400 7 7 1 hnpa n
409 7 7 100 hnpa n

ch ars ana 409 or 1409
this will allow this exchange or area code to your route pattern.
you'll be just fine

All,

This is still not clear to me. Should I use "Cha ars ana XXX" where XXX is the area code or the exchange? Can anyone help me translate the screen output?

NX01,

I do get a screen like the one above, but I can't tell whether or not the 832 exchange in the 409 area code is blocked or not.

PS the 409 area code is Long distance for me so should I be using 1409 as the XXX #??

Thanks

If it is LD for you then look under 1409. If you have 1409 then any number that follows 1409-xxx-xxxx will go. you don't need to put in all the prefixes. You might find that the user doesn't have access to LD?? Before we get into FRLs we'll try the ARS ANA route.

friend,
when you:
change ars ana 1409(you are actually adding that area code, you did said this will be long distance for you)
so:
ch ars ana 1409 7 7 1 hnpa n (enter)
do a test call to someone in this area code(14095551212 example)
or if it is a exchange:
ch ars ana 409 7 7 1 hnpa n (enter)
hope this will help

How's it work out? We're still here for ya if you need more help. Click on the link and read through it. Is is a great explantion of ARS.

I will give it a try when I get in tomorrow. Just to further clarify, I can dial the number 1 409 842 XXXX and 1 409 880 XXXX. It seems to just be the 1 409 832 XXXX #'s.

I'll let you guys(and gals) know how it works out. Thanks for the help so far.
