This is probably a silly question for those that know, but here goes. I'am being asked to do backups on a G3r, and the Definity Audix thats in one of the carriers. This is not a critical reliability switch, only has the one proccessor and no CMS. I do not have any passwords to get into the switch as of yet,so getting the software release is not doable, I do now it is not the latest release.I'am just looking for a simple procedure, something like a check list to follow. Many thanks in advance for any help that I may recieve, this forum is truly the greatest, and I do learn a lot from all of you. Thanks again.

One easy way to determine the software version of your switch is to enter "newterm". This is better than list configure software. If you have any login this command should work. On your backup's for the switch. 1.You need to enter "save translations". This will take all translations that have been done off the memory boards and put them on the hard disk. 2.The next step is to do a "back disk both full",if you have duplicated processors. This will take the translations that you saved to your hard disk and put them on your r-media or tape drives. In my case, I will run a back disk both full again as I have extra copies of these and have them in a fireproof safe. If the Audix that you have in in a slot of your switch, then you have a Definity Audix. I am not sure about the backup's for it, but you should be able to do them in the switch.

I hope this is useful to you.
