definitive guide to sendmail

Does such a thing exist? There are so many bits and pieces on the web, I am getting bogged down and confused.

Sendmail is a total mystery to me and I would like a clear-cut guide that will take me through installation, configuration and testing of the server.

All I need is the SMTP to work so that I can relay bugzilla emails to our Exchange server. Incidently, all this heartache could be avoided if someone knows of a way to configure bugzilla to use an independent smtp server. ------------------------------------ --------------------------
