Hi I know a fair amount about C++, but a few definitions bother me. When ever I look at code examples I notice the words malloc and vector appear alot. Are these standards used in C and have been carried over.
malloc stands for memory allocation why not use the key word new.
Any help would be appreciated If ifs and ands
were pots and pans
where would the tinkers be.

C++ is a superset of C. This means that most, in not all, of C's keywords are also usable in C++. Many people who have been taught C before C++ continue to use C's syntax and keywords. This also made porting C programs over to C++ easier.
