i want to be able to open a new window from a link in HTML without using javascript, i can open it easily enough, i want to be able to set the size that the window opens at aswell.
any ideas?

Can't be done without javascript.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

Anyone with a second opinion before I give up on trying to do this as well?
Is it really impossible to open a link in a new window of a stipulated size without javascript?

Regards, Andy.

2nd opinion,

can't be done without using javascript!

Chris.

Indifference will be the downfall of mankind, but who cares?

3rd opinion. HTML does not describe the behaviour of your browser. Your only solution is javascript.

OK guys, I just wanted to be absolutely certain, and now I am!
Thanks for all of your opinions.

yeesh...hotfusion: your web-site needs some attention!

the animated sun gif hurts my eyes!

more importantly, you describe the page as HTML 4.01 compliant, but you're using a HTML 4.0 doctype, and it doesn't validate to 4.0 or 4.01! It's only a couple of html errors - if you're going to have the standards icon on your page, you might as well meet the standard :)
