Defining constant objects on a submap

I have an application that sends traps to HPOV NNM 6.2. I've created several objects on a node's submap to represent the application's categories and related events. I have configured automatic actions for the events to change the status of the object (and propagate up). The problem is that if the node goes away the objects created go away and have to be manually regenerated each time the node comes back on the map. Is there a way to make this happen automatically?

I haven't had alot of experiance with using the submaps, but there is one thing I do when I get a new ovject on the network that isn't being picked up.

I run a traceroute to it. This picks it up in my case. As for an automatic solution, not sure other than running a script to trace route every so often.

Not much help I am sure, but good luck.

Blue,

Thanks for the response but the submap contains application subcomponents and I cannot run a traceroute to them. Let me be a little more specific. The software application on the node sends traps if its critical components are "in jeopardy". These critical components are not services or devices. Even though the machine is physically up and running and responds to polling, if these "in jeopardy" events occur, the node's functional capability is down and the node should be reported as down. Got any other ideas?
