Defining a 'shim' in a style sheet

I am using a shim for spacing on my page and so have to keep typing.

Can this type of thing be incorporated in a style sheet or include statement.

Where are you using your 'shim'? I bet you can do it another way using css....probably using padding:2px or margin:2px...etc.
