Defective RAID controller trashed my hard drives with "bad" sectors.

I had a bad drive controller that “trashed” about 8 of my hard drives. It marked hundreds of sectors bad on those drives that really aren’t bad. Now that I have replaced the controller with a good one, how can I “restore” those marked sectors so that they don’t appear as bad anymore?
