Could someone please give me a quick synopsis of how it works, please?

In access 97:

I have a subform in datasheet format on a form. When I click a box of a particular row, I want to open a new form, still in datasheet format, and make the value I clicked on the default value for one of the columns on that new form. Is that possible, if yes how?..
