There are situations where defaulting a voicemail is the best solution for a technician in the field. To do this for a MLM007 follow these steps. There are other useful diagnostic tools located in the menu. I hope you find it useful.
1. Connect serial cable from your computer COM port to the MLM007 DB9 Serial Port. The cable to use is not a null modem cable. You use just a regular direct serial cable.
2. Run a program like HyperTerminal or ProCom. The communication settings are:
a. Baud rate of 1200
b. 8 data bits
c. no parity
d. 1 stop bit
3. Boot the Legend system and observe the boot up sequence on the computer. When the boot is complete you will need to enter a password. This password is the serial number at the bottom of the MLM module.
4. Choose menu item B, Shutdown. You will be required to re-enter the password. Then answer yes to the shutdown prompt.
5. At the 10> prompt press the escape (esc) key one time and then enter { init }. Then press the enter key. You will now see the information confirming the default process displayed on the computer screen.
6. After the default the main menu choices will be displayed. Choose {menu A-Restart} to restart the drive.
7. When entering voicemail programming with intercom 770 for the voicemail for the first time after defaulting the voicemail you will be required to enter a password. Use only the default passwords. The first one is 123456 and the second one is 654321.
