I'm running IIS on an NT 4.0 server, and Default Web Services keep stopping without warning some 10 times per day. There is no degradation of performance prior to the event, and there is no trace of a problem in the Event Log. Simply re-starting Default Web Services solves the problem until the next time. Has anyone encountered this before?

Thanks!

Not seen this but if your MDAC and SP's are in conflict this could certainly produce a similar result

The problem turned out to be caused by a defective version of aspchart.dll . The technical details are Microsoft's secret, but whenever a user would request a page that called aspchart.dll, Default Web Site would stop. This explains why there were no warning signs in the NT Event Log or Performance Monitor. As soon as we replaced the dll and updated the registry accordingly, the outages stopped happening.
