Default root password for RedHat Linux

Does anyone know what the default root password is for RedHat Linux?

All the Red Hat installs I have ever done (since version 5) have always asked for a root password to be set during install. I don't think there is a default password.

Fedora 2 has a bootable rescue CD image that you can download, which boots without the hard drive and mounts your file system. You might be able to set your password from that (I'm guessing here).

That's what I thought. But during install it asked me to create a user and password, which works to logon, but when you want to change any system settings it asks for the root password, which I was never asked to put in. This is RedHat Linux 9.1

Any ideas?

Yes.
I guess you give the root passwort after logging in as root.
And the system-setting dialogs don't know, that you didn't made a root passwort till now.

You can login under single user-mode and run the passwd command for user root. Then you'll definitely know the root password.

same to me few years ago. i always confuse about root password and annaconda also accept blank root password. so problem is begin from there.
re-install and setting root password is good idea. i think so.. but i am not master in linux but i will.
