Can we give in hp-ux a default right for file creation in any directory ?

Like in AIX, smit -> user.

Example:
User jdoe create a file in /home/test. The right of the file is rw- r-- rwx. And it will be the same in any directory.

Thanx

Yes, it is the users umask. You can set this in the /etc/profile so that every user that logs into a shell account will have the "default" umask set.

OK. But how do you set it up in the profile as the default umask ?

add a line in /etc/profile like this:

umask 022

this sets the users umask so that file creation will have read/write permissions for the owner, and read-only permissions for the group and world.

-rw-r--r--
