hello folks

guys on site were doing some xp installs we've noticed that when setting up an printer by local ip address that once you log off the admin account and log in as a user the default printer has changed to the microsoft office image writer

is there a general rule of thumb about default printers

any thoughts on this are appreciated

thanks

Gary

This post should be in forum779

I assume you are talking about a network install and a shared printer. If the printer was added via the "Add New Printer" wizard then it should appear on all user accounts in XP.

Best advice would be to browse for the printer using the wizard while logged in as a user and making it the default printer. That should "stick".
