Default Printer Randomly Changes

Have five printers on Windows 2000 Server. One printer is directly connected to LPT1 and the other four are connected via Intel ethernet print servers. The LPT1 printer is set as the default printer, but randomly the default printer is set to one of the other printers. Any ideas?

Applications resetting default printer to last printer used?

Im not familiar with the win2k environment-use 98se (with 3 printers hooked to computer); but when I use MS Works and choose something other than default printer, default printer gets reset.
