Hi all

I'm looking for an easy way to accomplish what should be simple. Thus, I fear, I have totally missed the point somewhere.

I want a users group which can add documents, create calendar items, and so on, but not edit any web pages, web parts and so on. You'd think that would be the default.

Does such a group exist ? Am I missing something ?

Thanks

Pete

I believe you are referring to the Contribute permission.

From the Edit Permissions screen of my main page:

Full Control - Has full control.
Design - Can view, add, update, delete, approve, and customize.
Contribute - Can view, add, update, and delete.
Read - Can view only.

Of course, I would think you need to set up a group for this in either your Sharepoint or Active Directory setup, depending on how you are setup. The just add the appropriate users to this group.

In my setup I created an Active Directory group for each of the "sub-sites" for my Sharepoint sites. I added this group to the top of the sub-site and gave that group Contribute permissions. As I want users to access and be able to contribute to that area, I only have to add their Active Dircetory account to the Active Directory Group. Sharepoint handles the rest...
