Hi,

I have noticed that some URLs like don't actually list the page that it is referencing. How is this done?

I need to give someone a URL, but I want to keep it shorter by not making them have to type in the actual file name, but take them to the folder like above.

I though that this was done by putting a page within the folder and calling it one of the default names like default or home, but that doesn't work.

are you using IIS or PWS? - you can set default documents within both of these - they usually have 'index.htm', 'default.htm', 'default.asp' already set.

If you do not have control of the web server then you could try using one of these. Tony

Tony,

I am using IIS and I can control it. I have seen a setting where it lists what order that the default page would be. It is currently set up to find home.asp as the first page.

Is this the setting that can be changed in IIS?

yes if you change home.asp to the very first page that you want to open when someone access your site, then whenever they type the url that page will open, as long as they dont request the page itself...

ie

will open the page set but

will open test.asp

hope that helps

Thanks, I am sure home.asp and it didn't work, but it just did.

Thanks for you help!
