Hi - I use Lotus Notes for emailing - however, when in Excel I try to send an email, it defaults to Outlook Express - is it possible to override this, and tell it to use Notes instead ?

Thanks

You're not going to like this, but ths is the only way I was able to do it having just moved to Notes about 2 months ago:

First, under IE, make sure that the defaul mail client is set to Notes

Second, under File Types, make sure the URL:mailto is set to Notes

Now this takes care of most environments, but not Excel. To make it work for Excel, I then made the following changes to the registry (MAKE SURE YOU TAKE A BACK UP OF THE REGISTRY BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT THIS :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Lotus Notes\Protocols\mailto
(Default) (value not set)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Lotus
Notes\Protocols\mailto\Shell
(Default) (value not set)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Lotus
Notes\Protocols\mailto\Shell\Open
(Default) (value not set)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Lotus
Notes\Protocols\mailto\Shell\Open\Command
(Default) "c:\notes\notes.exe %1"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Lotus Notes\Shell
(Default) (value not set)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Lotus Notes\Shell\Open
(Default) (value not set)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Lotus
Notes\Shell\Open\Command
(Default) "c:\notes\notes.exe MAIL"

An incredibly horrible process and one that annoyed the crap outta me, but it now works.
