Hi guys, 1st time on this forum. My question is on the default Illustrator file. I used to have on in a print house I worked pre-press in a few years ago. Whenever I would open Illustrator, all our specific settings, windows, etc were ready to go exactly how we needed it. I am now using Illustrator 9 at a dfferent business & I would like to have this default file again, but I do not see it in the help files anywhere. I 'believe' it was created automatically in 8, & opening it would alow you to modify, but how do you create a new one?? I REALLY need to do this, any help is greatly appreciated.

If by "Windows" you are talking about Palettes, just put them where you want them and they will still be in the same spot next time you open Illy.

Again, I'm not sure what you mean by "Settings". Perhaps you are talking about which swatches/symbols etc will be loaded on startup. To do this you need to open your Adobe Illustrator Startup_RGB.ai file and your Adobe Illustrator Startup_CMYK.ai from your Illustrator Plug-in folder, open all the swatches/brushes ETC you want in those documents and save it back down.

Any NEW document will now open with all those things available by default.
